Ether was introduced as an anesthetic agent to relieve the pain associated with surgery in 1842. Modern anesthesia is one of America's greatest gifts to the medical world. Anesthesiologists are doctors of medicine with three or more additional years of specialty training in anesthesia. Their principal function is to care for patients' needs during surgery or obstetrics and in the immediate post-operative period.
Providence Anchorage Anesthesia Medical Group (PAAMG) physicians and CRNAs are a team of highly trained and qualified physicians and nurse anesthesists. Many have additional expertise (fellowship-level training) in anesthesia subspecialties such as pediatrics, cardiovascular, and pain therapy. All of our physicians are board certified or board eligible. They have been administering anesthetics at Providence Alaska Medical Center for over 31 years.
If you have anesthesia questions before or after your hospital care, please call us between 8:00 AM-4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, at (907) 279-0555 and we will happily assist you. The PAAMG business office can also be reached at the same number or at 3300 Providence Drive, Suite 207, Anchorage, Alaska 99508.
